Encyclopedia Britannica provides access to the articles from the Encyclopedia Britannica plus thousands of additional articles. This is a good place to start when looking for general information on subjects.
Ethnic NewsWatch is a good place to start to access popular and academic journals.. Using Ethnic News Watch, you can also limit your search to specific ethnic groups.
Expanded Academic ASAP provides access to articles from a wide variety of journals covering various disciplines. To browse subject headings run a “subject guide search” for “Art” [The search will provide lists of narrower subject headings and related subject headings].
Gale's Discovering Collection : is a comprehensive database of reference content for the areas of Literature, History, Biographies, Science, and Social Studies. To view art related subjects, run a subject search for “art” and browse the art related subjects on the left side of the screen.
Grove Art Online provides web access to the entire text of The Dictionary of Art, ed. Jane Turner (1996, 34 vols.) and The Oxford Companion to Western Art, ed. Hugh Brigstocke (2001). Also includes ongoing additions of new and updated articles, over 1,500 thumbnail art images and line drawings displayed in the text of articles, and extensive image links.
NewsBank (Global) : provides coverage of global issues and events from multiple perspectives and diverse primary news sources from around the world. Records are arranged by subjects including "Art," "European Art," "Asian Art," "Art Reproductions," "Pre-Columbian Art," "Animals In Art," "Art Supplies Industry," "Latin American Art," "Native American Art," "Religious Art," "Painting," "Modern Art," "Museum Acquisitions," "Art Thefts," "African American Art," "British Art," "Museums," "Art Schools," "Installations (Art)," and "Folk Art."
SIRS Researcher is a general reference database containing thousands of full-text articles exploring social, scientific, historic, economic, political, and global issues. Articles are selected from domestic and international newspapers, magazines, journals and government publications. Search for the subjects “Art” to view a list of relates subjects.

The subject heading “Arts” captures works on the arts in general, including the visual arts, literature, and the performing arts. General works on the visual arts are entered under Art.
The subject heading “Art” covers general works on the visual arts. Works on the arts in general, including the visual arts, literature, and the performing arts, are entered under Arts.
The subject of art overlaps with a number of other disciplines. Therefore, in art, in order to do comprehensive research, make sure to think about which other disciplines may touch on your topic.
