Influence Oakland's Climate Action Plan, Wed., 11/18, Laney College, 6pm

Category: Academic Schedule Events
Wednesday, November 18, 2009
6:00 PM

There's a big gathering - with free food! - this Wednesday at Laney
College, and I hope you can make it!

This Wednesday, 11/18, at 6pm, 200 people from all over Oakland is
coming to Laney College to show City Council that we want a bold plan
to be Climate Right.

The event includes live green hip hop, a theatrical performance on
climate by high school-aged youth, and a report-back from Oakland
community residents who attended climate workshops in the flat lands
of East and West Oakland. At the event, those most impacted by climate
change will showcase solutions to the climate crisis that will address
their needs.

Earlier this year, the City of Oakland decided to develop an Energy
and Climate Action Plan (ECAP) to reduce green house gas emissions and
fight global warming. In response, green businesses, labor unions,
environmental groups and community based organizations have come
together to form the Oakland Climate Action Coalition. The City is
looking to us for solutions that benefit all Oakland residents.

See you this Wednesday at 6pm. Please feel free to call if you need
directions.
